ByteFiddler is an application that allows high school and first semester students to intuitively handle "bits" and "bytes" and to get this also in the context of Character-Encoding.
The application has following components:

  • an ASCII/ISO 8859-15-Table
  • a Voltmeter
  • a Diode
  • a 7-segment display with shift-Functions
  • hexadecimal, decimal representation of bitmasks
  • many logical and arithmetic operations
  • The students can use it for different and self-generated byte-verifications.In addition, there is the possibility to apply different operations to two bytes, which can be displayed
as a result in different formats.
